Account, team and roles
Your Personizely account is your company's workspace: it holds your websites, your subscription and visitor quota, your team and your API keys. Everyone on your team signs in with their own user, and each user has one of three roles in the account: Owner, Admin or User. One person can belong to several accounts, for example an agency working with multiple clients, and switch between them.

- Owner: the person who created the account. There's exactly one owner. The owner can't be removed and their role can't be changed. The owner receives account emails such as quota warnings and Shopify data requests.
- Admin: full control of the account, except terminating it.
- User: works on the website's campaigns, widgets and analytics without access to billing, team, integrations or website settings. The Account menu isn't shown to users.
All roles have access to every website in the account. Roles can't be limited to one website; to separate clients, use separate accounts, or agency subaccounts.
Invite your team
- Open the profile menu (your name in the sidebar) → Account → Team.
- Click Invite user.
- Enter their Email address, choose a Role (User or Admin) and click Invite.
What happens next depends on whether the person already has a Personizely login:
- New to Personizely: they get an email titled "Account name invited you to Personizely". The link opens a page where they enter Your name and a password. Until then, the Team list shows them as "(invitation pending)".
- Already has a Personizely login (for example on another account): they're added to your account straight away and can switch to it from their profile menu. No invitation email is sent.
Change a role or remove a user
In Account → Team, click the edit button next to a user to change their role between User and Admin, or the delete button to remove them. You can't remove yourself or the owner. Removing a user from your account doesn't delete their login if they belong to other accounts.
Switch between accounts
If you belong to more than one account, open the profile menu and choose Switch account, then the account. You land on that account's Dashboard. Each account has its own websites, team, subscription and quota.
Account pages
Open them from the profile menu → Account (owners and admins):
Page | What's there |
|---|---|
Information | Company name. For accounts billed directly by Personizely, the owner also sees Terminate |
Subscription | Your plan and its status, price and billing period, with Change plan, Cancel subscription or Reactivate. The Quota section shows visitors used this period and, on plans with several websites, websites used. See Plans, visitor quota and pausing |
Team | Users, their roles and pending invitations |
API | Personal API keys and apps you authorized with OAuth. See API keys and connected apps |
GDPR | Review, accept and download the Data Processing Agreement. See GDPR and data deletion |
Billing through Shopify or Wix
If you installed Personizely from the Shopify App Store or Wix, your subscription is billed through that platform and appears on its invoice. You choose and change plans in Personizely, and the charge appears on your Shopify or Wix bill. Subaccounts created by an agency are billed to the agency: ask the agency to change the plan.
Your profile
The profile menu → Profile has:
- Profile information: your Name.
- Change password: enter your Current password and a New password.
Your email address is your login. If you forget your password, use the reset link on the sign-in page.
Close your account
- Billed directly by Personizely: the owner goes to Account → Information → Terminate, enters their password and types TERMINATE to confirm.
- Billed through Shopify or Wix: uninstall the Personizely app from your Shopify or Wix admin. You aren't charged if you uninstall during the free trial.
Closing the account cancels the subscription and deletes its websites, campaigns, widgets, reports and visitor data. Users who don't belong to any other account are deleted too. To keep data but stop Personizely temporarily, use Pause tracking instead.
Behavior details and limitations
- Users can open settings pages, but can't save website settings or integrations. Ask an owner or admin.
- One owner per account. The Owner role isn't offered when inviting or editing users.
- Invitations go to the exact email address. If a teammate signs up separately instead of accepting, they get their own account; invite that email again to add their existing login to yours.
