Overview
Personizely is a conversion rate optimization (CRO) platform for ecommerce stores, built first for Shopify. It lets you run A/B tests and personalize your storefront, show popups and other on-site widgets, and measure the revenue and profit each change produces. It runs on Shopify, Shopify Hydrogen, Wix, WordPress and WooCommerce, Webflow, Square and any other website that can load a script.
These docs explain what each feature does, how it works, how to configure it, and where its limits are. For video tutorials and walkthroughs, see the help center.
The three pillars
A/B testing and personalization
Campaigns change what visitors see and measure the effect. Each campaign is either an Experiment (an A/B test that splits traffic randomly between control and variations) or a Personalization (a change shown to a specific audience, optionally with a control group).
Campaign type | What it changes | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
Text, images, styles and layout, edited in a visual editor | All | |
Sends visitors to a different URL | All | |
Serves a different Shopify theme | Shopify | |
Serves a different Shopify page template | Shopify | |
Changes product prices, through to checkout | Shopify | |
Changes shipping rates at checkout | Shopify Plus, Advanced and development stores | |
Feature flags and variations your own code reads | All |
Visitors are How visitors are assigned to variations on later visits. You can make tests mutually exclusive with Campaign groups (mutually exclusive tests) and Scheduling, stopping and deploying winners when the test is done.
Popups and widgets
Widgets are on-site messages and forms: Popups, Bars (top and bottom banners), Callouts (slide-in widgets) and Embedded widgets and placeholders. You build them in a drag-and-drop editor from Widget elements such as forms, coupon codes, countdown timers, product recommendations and a wheel of fortune. You decide when they appear with Widget triggers (exit intent, scroll, time, add to cart and more) and Widget display rules. Widgets can be A/B tested against each other or against a control group.
Analytics and attribution
Every campaign and widget reports on the Goals you choose: purchases, add to cart, checkout starts, page views, clicks, form submits, scroll depth, time on page and custom events. Personizely reports conversion rate, revenue per visitor, profit per visitor and AOV, and calls winners with a frequentist or Bayesian Statistics methodology.
On Shopify, purchases are recorded server-side from Shopify order data, so they don't depend on a thank-you page script. Orders are credited to the campaigns and widgets a visitor saw within your Revenue attribution (2–30 days, 7 by default). See Shopify order tracking and profit.
