Install Personizely
Installing Personizely means adding its snippet to every page of your store or site, and, on supported platforms, connecting the platform so Personizely can read products, carts and orders. On Shopify, Wix, Webflow and Square the app adds the snippet for you. On other sites you paste one script tag into the <head>.
Choose your platform
Platform | How it's installed | Order tracking | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
Shopify (Online Store) | Shopify app, then turn on the Code snippet app embed in your theme | Automatic, server-side | |
Shopify Hydrogen | npm package @personizely/shopify-hydrogen, plus the Shopify app for orders | Automatic, server-side | |
Wix | Wix app; the snippet is added automatically | Automatic | |
WordPress and WooCommerce | WordPress plugin, or the script tag | Through GA4 ecommerce events or the JavaScript API | |
Webflow, Square Online | Connect your site; the snippet is added automatically | Through GA4 ecommerce events or the JavaScript API | |
Any other site (BigCommerce, Magento, Squarespace, custom) or Google Tag Manager | Paste the script tag into <head> | Through GA4 ecommerce events or the JavaScript API |
The snippet is the same on every platform: one lightweight, per-site script served from a CDN. Platform integrations add store data on top of it, such as products, cart contents, customer data and server-side orders. That's what enables Shopify-only campaign types (theme, template, price and shipping tests) and cart and order-history targeting.
Before you start
- Create an account and a website. Each website in Personizely has its own snippet, settings and reports. On Shopify and Wix, installing the app creates or connects the website for you. To run Personizely on several domains, see Multiple websites.
- Decide how the snippet loads. Asynchronous loading is the default and never delays your page. If you plan to A/B test page content, synchronous loading prevents the original from flashing before the variation. Read Performance and flicker; you can change this later in Settings → Tracking.
- Install once. Use one method per site. If the snippet ends up on a page twice, only the first copy runs, but remove the extra one to keep things clear.
- Content Security Policy. If your site sends a CSP header, allow Personizely's hosts first. See Content Security Policy (CSP).
- Consent. See Cookies and consent for the cookie Personizely sets and how consent is handled on each platform.
Verify it works
Whatever the platform, the same checks apply:
- Open your site in a normal browser window (not a tag-manager preview or a speed-test tool) and open the developer console. You should see Personizely initialized. Startup time: <n>ms.
- In Personizely, open the Dashboard. The Snippet card shows the install status and whether tracking is active.
- For a step-by-step check and fixes for common problems, see Verify and troubleshoot your installation.
