Track widget completion
Track widget completion counts a second kind of success for a widget, separate from conversions. Use it when a widget has two milestones worth measuring, for example the visitor leaving their email (the conversion) and then finishing the whole quiz (the completion). Completions get their own Completion rate in the widget's stats.
Available on: all platforms.
How it works
- You add Track widget completion to the element that marks the end of the journey, such as the last survey question or a final "See my results" button.
- When that element's event happens, a completion is recorded and the widget's completion count goes up by one.
- Completion rate = completions รท views. It appears in the widget's stats and can be compared between variations in widget A/B test reports.
How it differs from a conversion
๏ปฟ | Track widget conversion | Track widget completion |
|---|---|---|
Metric | Conversions, Conversion rate | Completions, Completion rate |
Goal and revenue attribution | Yes: goals are credited to converted views | No |
Frequency rule option | "converted" | None |
Teaser on close | Prevents minimizing | No effect |
Saved step | Cleared, next open starts at step 1 | Further step changes on this view aren't saved |
Added automatically | Button, Survey, Products, Form | Never |
Configuration
Track widget completion has no options. Add it under Interaction โ Automation โ Add action, with Action in set to Personizely.
Behavior details and limitations
- Completions don't earn revenue. Goal and revenue attribution only look at conversions (or views, with Attribute on view). Keep Track widget conversion on the element that should earn credit.
- Each run counts once. A visitor who completes on two views counts two completions.
- Control groups. Completion rate isn't available as a comparison metric when a widget A/B test has a control group, since the control group sees nothing.
- Preview doesn't count. Completions aren't recorded in Preview and QA campaigns๏ปฟ.
Examples
- Product quiz: Track widget conversion on the email form at step 1, Track widget completion on the final question. Completion rate shows how many visitors finish the quiz.
- Two-step offer: conversion on "Claim my code", completion on "Copy code and shop" at the next step.
