Order history filter
The Order history filter matches visitors by their past orders: how many they placed, how much they spent, which products they bought or which order tags their orders have, optionally within a date window. Use it to welcome first-time buyers, reward repeat customers, or keep acquisition offers away from people who already bought.
Available on: Shopify (Online Store and Hydrogen) · Wix.
How it's evaluated
The filter reads: Visitor has made [at least / exactly / less than] [N] orders [of any value / with value of at least X / with value of less than X / containing any of specified items / containing any of specified tags], with an optional date window.
Where the orders come from depends on who the visitor is:
Visitor | Orders used |
|---|---|
Logged-in Shopify customer on the Online Store | The customer's orders in Shopify with a Paid status, including orders placed before you installed Personizely |
Everyone else: guests, Shopify Hydrogen, Wix | Purchases Personizely tracked for this visitor since you installed it |
Personizely links a tracked purchase to a visitor when the order comes from the same browser, or from a visitor it has identified as the same person, for example by email.
Order data takes a moment to resolve for visitors who aren't logged in. Content that depends on it stays hidden until it has, and widgets wait for it before their triggers start.

Behavior details
- Value is a total, not a per-order amount. "At least 2 orders with value of at least 200" means two or more orders that add up to 200 or more, not two orders of 200 each.
- Logged in and logged out can give different results. A customer with five orders in Shopify matches "at least 3 orders" when logged in. As a guest on a new device, Personizely only knows the purchases it tracked for that browser or identity, so the same person may not match.
- Only paid orders count for logged-in customers. Pending, refunded and voided orders aren't counted.
- New visitors match "less than N orders". A new visitor has no orders, so "less than 1 order" matches them from their first page.
- Currency. Values are in your store currency.
- Collections are a snapshot. Adding a collection under containing any of specified items adds the products it contains at that moment.
- Order tags (Shopify only). Use the tags as they appear on the order in Shopify. Tags added later, for example by Shopify Flow, are taken into account.
- Date window. In the last N days counts back from now. On or after includes orders placed on that date.
Examples
- Exclude buyers from a welcome offer: a target with one group set to don't match containing "Visitor has made at least 1 order of any value", used on a first-order discount popup.
- VIP thank-you: "at least 3 orders with value of at least 500" for a bar announcing early access to a sale.
- Replenishment reminder: "at least 1 order containing any of specified items: 90-day supplement pack" with "In the last 120 days" turned on, then a second group joined with and, set to don't match, with the same filter for "In the last 60 days". This reaches customers who bought 60 to 120 days ago and are due for a refill.
